DIY Pet Art

One easy project you can easily finish in an afternoon will let you show others how much your pets mean to you. Purchase round placemats in a color that will best fit the room where they will be displayed. If you can’t find the color you want, be sure to grab some metallic spray paint or chalk spray paint at your local craft store. Find the stencil that best represents your cat or dog and add this to the center of the placemat. Fill in the stencil with a contrasting color, set aside to dry, and hang when ready.

Book Planter

Choose an old book to make a creative planter for your coffee table or bookshelf. Secure the pages you plan to cut open with a layer of wood glue along the edges. Mark the cutting area with a pencil, and then use a craft knife to slice along the lines. Add a plastic lining and secure with glue into the cut area. Trim the edges of the plastic to match the height of the pages. This barrier will provide protection from any dirt or water leaking into the book and creating a mold or mildew problem. Make sure to select a plant that needs minimal water, such as a succulent, as there is no drainage in this planter.

Metallic Fruit

Create a unique centerpiece or decor addition for your home with metallic fruit. All you need is some faux fruit of your choice, a couple of metallic paint colors, and tape. Try to find faux fruit that is a solid color such as white, rather than a realistic color. Use the tape to create a geometric pattern on the fruit and paint the metallic color inside the taped-off section. Remove the tape, let dry, and display where you’d like.

Painted Throw Pillows

If you’re tired of trying to find throw pillows that match your style, then create your own with a paintbrush and some stamps. Gather some plain white throw pillows, fabric craft paint, a paint brush and some stamps. Once you have everything you need, you can create the patterns you want with the colors you love!
