Dining Table Inspiration

If you love to host Easter brunch, lunch, or dinner, then you probably are well on your way to determining the theme you want to create. Whether you choose a simple approach or a more detailed affair, you’re sure to want to add a few of our suggestions to make your gathering as festive as possible.

Place Settings

When it comes to the place settings at your table, it is important to consider whether adults or kids will be using the space. When it comes to children, it’s generally wise to use plastic table settings and cups to minimize accidents and breakage. One way to create unity between the adult and kid tables is to create bunny tail place settings for everyone. Simply take some cardstock and cut enough circles to have one for each guest, Write the name of each guest on the circle, glue a pom-pom for the bunny tail, and place two pieces of faux reed grass underneath the circle to create the bunny ears.

Individual Straws

One of the challenging aspects of hosting a gathering is determining how to help guests keep track of their own glass. With that in mind, consider the fact that you’ll likely be serving some cold punch, which can be enjoyed with a straw. If you’re trying to reduce your use of disposable plastic items, simply purchase some reusable straws for this DIY stem straw project. Gather some watercolor paper, cut into a variety of flower shapes, and decorate the edges of the flowers with different watercolor pens. Punch a hole in the middle of the flower and slip over the straw. Your guests can select the color they like best, which should help them to keep better track of their drink.

Mason Jar Vases

You can create a truly stunning centerpiece arrangement with a few simple materials. Gather a few mason jars, a collection of faux or live spring flowers and greenery, a few ribbons, and a bunny stencil. Since pastel colors are de rigueur in spring, pick three of your favorite to paint the mason jars.On the front of each jar, stencil a bunny, and then wrap the ribbons around the neck of the jar. Arrange the flowers and greenery in the way you like best, and then place the entire arrangement in the center of your table.

DIY Easter Crafts for Kids

If you will have children at your home for Easter, then you want to make sure you have some activities and games to keep them occupied while the grownups chat. There are a number of crafts that involve little to no mess, which could be ideal depending on the age of the children.

Egg Carton Chicks

If you colored eggs this year, then you likely have some empty egg cartons. Instead of tossing them, set them aside to be recycled in this fun kids’ craft. Make sure you have the following supplies on hand:

  • Egg cartons
  • Acrylic paint and brushes
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Construction paper

Cut apart two egg holders from the carton and trim off any excess edges. For younger children, you may want to have the egg cartons already cut and trimmed. Glue the two egg holders together, paint, and allow to dry. Once dry, add eyes and a beak. If you have feathers in your supplies, you can let the children add some to create wings.

Embroidery Hoop Easter Bunny

This DIY decor is perfect for anyone, especially if you’re a beginner! You might be surprised at just how easy this tutorial is, and you’re sure to love the finished product. Before you start, make sure to have all of your supplies ready, including:

  • 12” embroidery hoop
  • 9” embroidery hoop
  • Fabric
  • Burlap
  • Yarn pom-pom
  • Hot glue
  • Pinking shears or scissors

Once you’re done, consider hanging this near your front door to offer your guests a cheery and seasonal greeting.

Washi Tape Easter Egg Picture

If you’re looking for a craft that involves no food, paint, or mess, then this is an ideal solution! All you really need is a 2” oval punch, an assortment of pastel-colored washi tape, and some plain white paper. Be sure to punch enough egg shapes to give each child plenty of opportunity to create as many eggs as they would like. Once the kids are done decorating their eggs, you can adhere the eggs to a string with tape to create festive garland, place some on a colored piece of paper in a frame, or create a wreath. No matter what you decide to do with the eggs, they’re sure to be a hit!

DIY Easter Decor for the House

While there is nothing to say you must decorate your home for Easter, it certainly is fun! With that in mind, we have a few DIY Easter decor projects for you to try this year. Be sure to shop the wide selection of products from Midwest Design Imports to ensure you have all the supplies you need for your DIY projects this year.

Easter Egg Tree

This DIY project is simple, elegant, and easy to complete. Gather some sturdy branches either from your yard or from your local hobby store. Place the branches in a vase that can handle their weight. Collect some faux craft eggs, thin strips of ribbon, and your hot glue gun. Wrap a piece of ribbon around an egg, and attach at the top of the egg with a small amount of hot glue. Once the glue is dry, tie the egg onto a branch and trim any excess ribbon. Continue this process until you have the amount of eggs on your tree that you want.

Bird’s Nest Wreath

Greet your guests with a bird’s nest wreath, which is completely appropriate to celebrate spring. Gather a foam wreath form, some burlap, blown-out egg shells, bird feathers, and dried or faux grasses and leaves. Wrap the foam wreath with burlap and secure with hot glue. Once the glue is dry, place your decorative items around the wreath, securing each one with a small amount of hot glue. Overlap the items until the entire form is covered. Set it aside to allow everything to fully dry, and then display on your front door or in your entryway.

Polka Dot Pots

Add a few final touches of spring around your home with polka dot pots. Look for small terra-cotta pots at your local home improvement store or hobby store. Paint them with chalkboard paint and allow them to dry overnight. Use different colored pieces of sidewalk chalk to create polka dots around each pot. Fill the pots with faux wheatgrass, add lilies and eggs, and watch the smiles of delight on your guests face when these see these sweet decor additions.
